POST OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS

• Avoid heavy lifting and straining for two weeks including straining for bowel movements, lifting > 10lbs, aerobic activity, shoveling snow, raking leaves, mowing lawns, etc
• Increase fluids to keep urine light in color
• Resume preoperative medications as prescribed, except: ______________ which may begin on _______________________
• Return to office for catheter removal on: ____________________
• Avoid caffeine, tea, decaffeinated coffee, hot or spicy foods for two weeks
• Fill prescriptions for
  • antibiotic for 7 days
  • Pyridium 200mg by mouth every 6 hours as needed for burning
  • Ditropan 5 mg by mouth every 6 hours as needed for bladder spasm, pressure, urgency
  • pain medicine if prescribed
